Education, Training and Youth

The area of education, training and youth is covered by Article 78 and Protocol 31 to the EEA Agreement and falls under Subcommittee IV.

The EFTA Working Group on Education, Training and Youth follows EU’s policies and initiatives in these fields.

Education is one of the core objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. Reducing the rates of early school leaving below 10 % and ensuring at least 40% of 30 – 34 years olds complete third level education, are among the key targets set for the year 2020.

Erasmus+ (2014 – 2020), the EU Framework Programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport, is the financial instrument boosting skills and employability, as well as modernising education, training, and youth work.
