The Algerian delegation was led by Mr. Ammar Boularak, Secretary General of the Ministry of Commerce. The EFTA delegation was headed by H.E. Mr. Norbert Frick, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Liechtenstein to EFTA.
The parties expressed their satisfaction with the progress achieved during exploratory discussions, which took place in accordance with the Declaration on Cooperation signed at Interlaken (Switzerland) on 12 December 2002. They committed to accelerate the pace of negotiations with a view to the conclusion of a free trade agreement.
Discussions during the meeting centred on the following subjects:
- Market access for industrial products, basic and processed agricultural products, and fish
- Services and Investment
- Customs and Origin
- TBT and SPS
- Technical assistance
The next meeting is scheduled to take place in Geneva in February 2008.
