Recruitment policy

The EFTA Secretariat has two categories of staff: professional staff (officers) and general staff (assistants).
All EFTA staff are on fixed-term contracts or may be recruited on temporary contracts (max 1 year).
Standard employment contracts are normally for a fixed-term period of three years. Depending on the needs of the EFTA Secretariat, contracts may be renewed once, generally not exceeding another three years.
The EFTA staff also includes several trainees.


Nationality issues

The EFTA Secretariat particularly encourages applications from nationals of the EFTA Member States only for their professional staff. General staff may be nationals from EU and EFTA Member States.

The Financial Mechanism Office (FMO), affiliated to the EFTA Secretariat, offers positions to nationals of both EU and EFTA Member States.

EEA Introductory Seminar
